While many consider working in urban populations particularly challenging, I consider it an opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of children and families of the same community of which I am a product. A high quality public education within our democracy  should be a right of compulsory education .Yet, students struggle in schools that fail them year after year. I believe it is our moral imperative, as educational leaders, to improve the outcome of public education for all.

Local school districts are struggling in meeting the demands of Vision 2015 within a high-stakes testing environment. In addition to meeting those challenges, we need school systems that value diversity and help empower children and families to achieve their dreams. I am obliged to bring my expertise, knowledge and passion for education to Wilmington through my vision for education as well as actualizing the district's plans for success.

My experience includes providing leadership in urban districts where I served as a teacher, administrator, and educational consultant. During these leadership opportunities significant strides were made to improve teaching and learning for all students.

Throughout my instructional capacities I've encourage significant grade level  progress with distinction in positive behavioral supports. Within my administrator's position I have  moved the organization within considerable growth margins while restoring it's fiscal solvency. These achievements led to requests to work with other underperforming entities to assist in creating success for all students. This resulted in the establishment of an educational consulting firm that continues today.

While Presiding over this firm, I have recruited partnerships with several business entities. Our goal is to reduced the dropout rate, increased standardized test  scores and participation, increased Advanced Placement and early childhood enrollment, increased identification of gifted minority students, implemented high quality alternative education, developed a literacy focus, and open a virtual school.

None of this can be accomplished without collaboration and team work. The inter-dependecy of an educational community is evident. This team includes parents, students, staff, board members, elected officials, businesses, faith based organizations and others. With everyone's locus of control on performance and productivity, as gauged through assessments,  the results should speak for themselves.

By accepting this position, I have one goal in mind: to ensure that each and every child receive a high quality personalized educational experience. It is my personal mission and my professional responsibility to students and families; to be a catalyst creating a passion for life long learning.

I have made a commitment to this endeavor.
